Review
"An introduction to polymer chemistry for undergraduates, offering a historical perspective through the development of high-tonnage materials early in the 20th century to modern high-performance materials. The main polymer types are discussed in detail, with emphasis on practical, commercial considerations and descriptions of real industrial processes. The behavior of polymer networks is explained, and the modern importance of functional polymers is discussed. Walton teaches applied chemistry, and Lorimer teaches physical chemistry at Coventry University."--SciTech Book News

Great book for learning basic in polymers or using it for a review. I enjoyed it and I highly recommend.
Polymers is not the center of your work but you need to know about them. Then, this is the right book to have in this multidisciplinary era. As in all the sciences, there are difficult concepts that takes time to understand and this book may be short in that sense, but you can really learn.
This is a surprisingly good book. I say surprising because it covers most of the topics you're likely to see in a 1-semester polymer chemistry course but it does so in a highly condensed manner (about 150 pages). So it could be used as a university text but only if you supplement it with some outside reading in various reference books. One such reference would be "Organic Polymer Chemistry. An Introduction to the Organic Chemistry of Adhesives, Fibres, Paints, Plastics, and Rubbers", 2nd edition by K.J. Saunders.Walton/Lorimer is more detailed than Nicholson's "The Chemistry of Polymers" but not as detailed as "Principles of Polymerization", 4th edition by Odian (a highly recommended reference) or "Polymer Chemistry: An Introduction" by Stevens.
Conveys the basics of polymer chemistry easily and concisely. Quite a strong focus on the applications and materials side of polymer chemistry, so would be an ideal primer to keep on the shelf for someone working in materials science.
If you are looking for a quick review on polymer chemistry, this is a great book.
