I have read all of Dave Ramsey's books except the one he wrote with his daughter. This is by far my favorite. I am a coordinator for his FPU classes, so yes, I've drank the Kool Aid as they say. But this book really tied everything together for me, not just the financial aspect but how this all relates to ALL OF LIFE. I wish this book got more attention than it does. I do buy a copy for all my students in my FPU classes, it is THAT IMPORTANT TO READ. Even if you aren't "into" Ramsey or FPU, it is a great "this is what you are doing on this planet" book.
I did not read the entirety of this book, perhaps this is an unfair review, BUT THIS IS NOT A BOOK ABOUT FINANCES. If you’re looking for a Dave Ramsey book on finance, you’re looking for: The Total Money Makeover and/or Financial Peace.This book is about getting rich in other avenues on your life: spiritually and familially, but does not specifically relate that back to finance in any relevant way. If you’re not seeking any kind of marriage or spiritual advice, definitely go with one of Dave’s other books.
I read Dave's book, "Financial Peace" first, before this one. I really liked Financial Peace, and also enjoyed this book. Where Financial Peace focused more on getting out of debt and saving money, this book focused on money and how it relates to your family, career, and life in general. Dave presents 10 keys on how to build wealth while maintaining a happy and successful lifestyle. Dave brings real life experiences from himself and his clients to help support his 10 keys. Two of the parts I found informative to my situation were 1) discussing your finances with your wife/spouse and children and 2) how to come up with a chore list and allowance for your children. These are things that my family already does, but Dave gave some great advice that helped make it even better. I look forwards to reading more of his financial books, and continuing our path on reducing debt and gaining wealth.
This book was more than I expected and I expected a lot. This book has easily put itself at the top of my list of favorites. There is so much wisdom in these pages and I will be revisiting this book over and over. Read it slow, you don't want to miss a thing! Thanks Dave for great read and a how to book for life!
Love all his books. Started with total money make over. Helped us so much, and written to be an enjoyable book to read, so I wanted to read more of his offerings. I enjoyed this book and recommend it.
Basic principles that seem too simple to work, but do. I read Financial Peace years ago and started the process, however, I wasn't ready to be disciplined & diligent to make the changes needed. Fast forward 8 yrs when I've realized I have to work harder & save more for dragging my feet. Don't be like me, start the journey now to having More Than Enough & be the generous giver your Heavenly Father intended you to be.
Most of the book was a repeat of the prior chapter. It was poorly written and felt more like an essay then motivational or informative. I like Dave Ramsey but this book was a disappointment.
Got an older print of the book used. It is really good and uses a lot of real examples that everyone can relate too. Dave's way of including is wife's thoughts on each chapter are great for couples to read as well as singles. The lessons and keys that he mentions are not rocket science and since I am not a rocket scientist they work for me.Overall this is a great book.
