Booklet is - packed - with good information, which also means small print, so keep your reading glasses handy. CD references the booklet as you go through. It runs a tad fast, so keep your speed reading glasses handy too. Native speaker uses a Castilian-o pronunciation instead of a Latin American dialect: Chiu-DATH instead of the more familiar Shoe-DAD. They should have hired a translator from Sevilla instead of Madrid to get a better match. Still, it's worth paying the extra buck for the booklet/cd, especially if you have to ask for a light bulb in three different parts of South America. Yes, it's that thorough.
This is the handiest little book! It's small enough to pop into my bag and take with to the grocery store and restaurant and around town. The small size makes it easy to navigate too - look up something quick enough to answer a waiter or clerk. Just enough info to get us through little everyday situations. We used it constantly on our recent trip to Dominican Republic. Excellent value.
I've just started this book (had it for awhile) as it's looking more and more likely I need to learn Latin American Spanish. The CD is a big help cuz you get to hear words pronounced correctly, some of them I'd never have guessed.The thing I like the most about it is that it's well organized, it's clear and concise. It's a daunting task to learn a new language, one really needs a book to be organized like this one so that it doesn't take forever to get there.There are 2 options for ordering this book, one is for 'The Book', the other is for 'The CD'. In my case, I ordered the CD and got both the book and the CD. There's a couple of people whining in these reviews they didn't get the CD. Maybe that's because all you ordered was the book?I admit it's confusing, but I ordered the CD and the book came also. It probably should say 'Book' or 'Book and CD'.
The audio CD that accompanies the book is very helpful and concise. I just completed a couple weeks in Nicaragua where the phrases contained in the book and on the CD were immensely helpful. The book is also sufficiently compact to carry around with you if necessary. My only gripe is the lack of color in the book, or any other quick-finding aids, for quickly locating needed phrases. Thus, I was forced to tab mine with little post-it notes. All in all, a great phrase book.
This is a great pocket guide. I got the German one years ago and came back for the Spanish. Good primer containing most of the basic language needed for a vacation. The included audio CD helped with pronnunciation.
I really enjoyed this book as it gives sentence structure in order to communicate more clearly. It is divided by categories that a traveler would need to use, such as Hotels, Foods, etc. I highly suggest this book.
I had this dictionnary in my pocket or my backpack for my whole trip in Bolivia - was very useful all the time! Very handy, too.
I would have liked more phrases in this Latin-American Spanish Book; although parts of it were very useful on my trip to the Caribbean.
