Wow! This book has it all. Lots of descriptions, processes, how-to's, and diagrams. Having this book in hardcover is awesome because it lends itself well to taking out into the orchard.I'm glad I bought this book. Very informative. I am jazzed now to get out there and start doing some grafting!
Learned more in one to two hours reading than I have learned viewing isolated post and articles for the last two years.
The 'bible' of grafting techniques. An excellent description of the ways to join plants together, with plenty of drawings.
Garner is obviously highly educated and he really wants to convey that in his writing through the overuse of 'big words.' I don't get the feeling of someone trying to teach, but rather someone who just wants to brag about how much he knows, much to the confirmation of Garner's ego. I, myself am educated. I have two engineering degrees. I do not, however, have much education in botany so unfortunately much of the information in this book has slipped away due to his horrible writing style. I thought this was a book on horticulture but if you don't have a botany education, then it is like reading a medical journal (for non-doctors). I only give it two stars because it is not totally useless. There is some good information in it... so long as you have a botanical dictionary handy.
Wonderfully detailed with more information than I'll ever use. Just the reference I've been looking for.
