Too bad more people don't know Sarah-Kate Lynch. Her books are delightful, and all focus on aspects of food. Of course the story is more than that, with interesting plots and quirky dialogue. This involves a London couple who go to the countryside to start up a brreadmaking business, and hire as their baker the French baker the wife had had an affair with in her youth. Hmmm. Makes for some interesting situations. She really gets into the details of making really good artisan breads, and she does it well.
This book was predictable and took too long to reveal the secret from the protagonist's past. I would not recommend reading this book if you are a fan of Blessed are the Cheesemakers, as it falls flat compared to that work. (I would give that book 5/5 stars compared with 2/5 stars for By Bread Alone.)

I love anything Sarah- Kate Lynch has written and this is no exception.
Love the author and loved the book!!
I did not like this one as much as her other books I have read, but I enjoyed it nonetheless.
It was written in typical Sarah kate Lynch style. Sometimes hard to follow but interesting enough to keep you into the book. She does not create your inquisitiveness until well into the book.
Fantastic Read. Enjoyed very much. Once started very hard to stop. Didn't want it to end
